Greetings to all Oregon Crafted artists, crafters, partners, and supporters!
July 7 and 8, 2007.
Make sure to have your Oregon Crafted signs out (be sure that the sign is on your property and not in the public right of way). If you are not able to have your studio open, please post a sign with your regrets and when you will be open again.
The 2nd Edition of the Guidebook
With a slight delay, we are happy to announce that the second edition of the Guidebook will have an anticipated release date towards the end of July 2007! We are planning several events to help promote and launch this edition in each county. Look for more news on this, and how you can help, in following newsletters! Artists, we will be e-mailing you about sign and Guidebook distribution dates when we have firm information on when we will be receiving the books from our printer. For new artists, August 4th & 5th will be the first Open Studio weekend.
Eugene Public Library Oregon Crafted Group Show
July and August 2007
This show will include Bach-inspired pieces (in conjunction with the Oregon Bach Festival), as well as generally inspired pieces of work from Oregon Crafted members. Over 50 artists will be contributing their work(s) for the show, which will debut at the First Friday Artwalk on July 6th, starting at 5:30 PM. For more information, contact Patti: patti@oregoncrafted.org.
Oregon Crafted 2008 Toyota Prius Raffle
Oregon Crafted is raffling off a 2008 Toyota Prius as a fund-raiser for our organization. All proceeds will benefit arts outreach and enrichment programs in Oregon. Purchase your raffle ticket for $25, because only 2000 tickets will be sold. Buy online at www.oregoncrafted.org or call the Oregon Crafted office at 541-687-8353. We will be selling raffle tickets at various art shows and events throughout the summer and early fall, including Art & The Vineyard, Sternwheeler Days (in the Gorge), and Cycle Oregon in Oakridge. The drawing will be held at the “Keep Art Alive” Auction on October 6, 2007.
Tours for Travel Writers Update
Oregon Crafted hosted a group of travel writers in the middle of June, who toured a number of our member studios and galleries. They were treated to hands-on glass-blowing, demonstrations of wood-working, paper light sculpture, computer design for fabrics, painting, local eateries, organic farms, and more. The writers were very impressed with the tour, and a great time was had by all. Their future articles will help to promote Oregon Crafted and cultural tourism in our state.
Oregon Crafted “Keep Art Alive” Auction
Oregon Crafted will be sponsoring a fund-raising art auction on October 6th, 2007, at Studio 1 at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, from 7 – 9 pm. Tickets will be $20 per person. Solicitation forms for art donations have gone out to Oregon Crafted member artists. Please let us know if you have artwork and/or services to contribute to the auction.
Cycle Oregon in Oakridge
Oregon Crafted has been invited to have artwork for sale during the late afternoon and evening of Thursday, September 13th, in Oakridge, when Cycle Oregon participants will be spending the night during this year’s bike tour. We envision setting-up a large tent, with individual tables for artists to sell their work. We will be contacting Oregon Crafted artists about participation, as the details are finalized.
